Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging at MPA
When Mounds Park Academy opened its doors in the fall of 1982, founders Bob Kreischer and Sandy Kreischer Smith were realizing a dream where educating the whole child and social justice were cornerstones of a college-preparatory experience. From its beginning, MPA has maintained these founding principles, allowing the school to evolve into the diverse community of learners it is now.
MPA strives to be authentically inclusive, as it is the key to preparing students to learn and thrive in an increasingly diverse and global society. Evidence of individuality, diversity, multiculturalism, and inclusion can be seen throughout MPA. However, we also recognize that the work of equity and justice is complex, continually evolving, and will never be done. This does not deter but instead centers the commitment to fostering an environment that recognizes and uplifts all members of the school community through humility, empathy, responsibility, and respect.
