On a near perfect day for running, you earned 10 personal best times, 4 near personal best times, and earned 6 t-shirts for top ten finishes!

Ben led our 7/8 boys, wearing his new rocket powered spikes for the first time. At least they seemed rocket powered, since he ran a personal best by nearly a minute. Eddie and Henry S. ran their first cross country races. Henry G. was a few seconds off his personal best, starting a little too fast.

Margo led our 7/8 girls, running well against strong competition to finish 2nd, setting a new personal best along the way and earning a t-shirt. Emily B. had a side stitch which slowed her down some. But she still ran to 18th place.

Cullen led our 9th grade boys, sprinting to a 6th place finish to earn our 3rd t-shirt of the day. Evan narrowly missed his personal best, finishing 35th. Louis took a few seconds off his best time. But Noah sliced over 2 minutes off his best time! Salma was our only 9th grade girl. But she represented our team well, running in her first cross country race. She ran much faster than she has in practice, finishing under 20 minutes.

Peter was our only 10th grade boy, running well to finish 12th, and taking almost a minute off his previous best time. Izzy Q. and Katie did some serious team running, working together to move up the second half of the race, finishing 3rd and 4th, with both girls setting new personal best times and earning t-shirts.

Henry S. took on some very good runners, and ran strong the second half of his race to finish  3rd, earning himself a t-shirt. Izzy G. ran steady to earn herself a personal best time. Emily W. finished a few seconds later. Mari, running on shin splints, took 90 seconds off her previous personal best time.

Matt led our senior boys, running a strong second half to move up to 3rd place against the fastest boys in the competition. He set a personal best by almost a minute and earned our sixth t-shirt of the day. Henry P. ran within a few seconds of his personal best to finish 17th. Dylan wrappped things up for our senior boys, finishing 45th.

Ellie, having taxed her brain by taking the ACT this morning, taxed her legs by running well as our final runner of the day. She finished 22nd.

There were many excellent performances today. Out of 22 of you participating in today’s meet, 17 either ran a personal best, were close to their personal best, or were running their first cross country race. A few of you had some difficulties with nausea or side stitches or poor pacing. These are things that can be fixed. Your performances suggest good results to come!

Monday we get back to work with our first 600 meter intervals of the season.

Results are available for the boys 7th-8th grade, girls 7th-8th grade, boys 9th grade, girls 9th grade, boys 10th grade, girls 10th grade, boys 11th grade, girls 11th grade, boys 12th grade, and girls 12th grade. Overall results for the boys teams and girls teams are also available.
