Racing is much more than running faster. You raced very well today to earn two team runner up finishes to very good teams.
Ben led our middle school boys to a 5th place finish. Henry F. and Sean ran their first ever cross country races. Henry G. ran to 20th place. On the girls side, Cara, running in her first cross country race, finished in 5th place. Anna also ran her first race.
Our JV girls worked together. Emily ran on an improving angle, finishing 12th, just ahead of Izzy G., who finished 13th, running her best on this course. Mari improved on her best on this course by over 30 seconds.
Our girls varsity took on a tough field of teams and finished second. Margo led the effort, with a strong finish to almost steal first place. Katie surged late to finish 5th. Izzy was not far behind in 8th place. Emily B. ran her best on this course to finish 27th. Skyler finished in 46th, wrapping up the scoring for our girls. Ellie finished in 54th place. Ana was unable to finish, deciding that the stifling heat and humidity was too much. A good decision!
Our varsity boys put on a clinic. Matt and Henry surged over the last mile to finish 2nd and 3rd, both boys running personal best times. Cullen ran an aggressive race to finish 17th, also with a personal best. Henry P. surged late to finish 20th. Peter ran a personal best, finishing just behind Henry in 24th. Evan wrapped things up for the boys. For their efforts, they managed to tie Nova Classical for first place. Nova was awarded 1st place on the tie-breaker (place of the 6th runner). This was quite a display of racing by our boys, and they have a lot to look forward to as the season progresses!
Our JV boys finished things up for us. Louis ran his personal best time. Dylan was not too far behind. And Noah ran his first 5000 meter cross country race.
While you ran very well today, there are things we can learn to improve for the future. Being sure to compete for every place right to the end of the race is one area we can work on. Next up is the Milaca Megameet!
