You took advantage of some splendid running weather to earn 2 trophies and 2 ribbons and record 10 personal best times!
Henry G. started the day for the Panthers in the 8th grade boys race. He ran not too far off his personal best time for 2 miles. Ben missed earning a ribbon by a couple of places but earned a personal best time. Eddie ran close to his best time. Henry S. ran well to finish things off for our middle school runners.
Salma ran her first ever full 5000 meter race. She maintained about the same pace she did last week for half the distance. Sean also ran his first ever 5000 meter race, and did very well.
Our boys varsity was somewhat depleted, with Henry P. having another commitment and with Isak still injured. Henry S. ran a strong personal best to place 5th, earn an individual trophy, and move up to 8th best all time. Matt B. also ran a personal best to place 7th, earn a trophy, and move up to 12th best all time. But the fireworks were only just beginning! Cullen ran a big personal best time. And Peter trimmed close to a minute from his personal best time. Evan, wrapping things up for our boys varsity, ran close to his personal best. These outstanding efforts earned 7th place for our boys team against 4 ranked teams. Quite impressive!
Not to be outdone, our girls varsity, also somewhat depleted with Izzy Q. injured, ran very well. Margo ran close to her personal best, almost 30 seconds faster than last year, to finish 8th and earn a ribbon. Katie improved her personal best by almost 90 seconds (!?) to move onto the all time list in 5th place, bumping Erin Quam off the list. Uh oh. Emily B. improved her personal best by almost 40 seconds to finish 39th. Cara, running her first varsity race, was 4th in for the girls. Skylar moved up the second half of the race to wrap up the scoring for the girls. Ellie was not far behind. And Ana ran a strong race to wrap things up for the girls. The girls earned 11th place for their efforts.
But, wait, there’s more! We had several JV runners. Dylan finished his race holding hands with someone I hope he knew. Emily and Izzy sprinted to the finish side by side, but Izzy’s tag was read first to earn bragging rights among these inseparables. Mari ran not too far from her best time to wrap things up for the Panthers this afternoon.
And on the long bus ride home, they were singing. Like, really nice singing. Only at MPA!
You ran some very impressive races. You managed to be patient at the start (well, except for Margo, who ran her best ever mile time during her race. Didn’t seem to hurt things though), but then worked to move up later in the race and finished well. This will serve you well when we get to our championship races. You may surprise some teams later this season!
Results are available for the 7th grade boys, 8th grade boys, 9th grade boys, 9th grade girls, 10th grade boys, boys varsity, girls varsity, boys junior varsity, and girls junior varsity.
