Eva graduated on June 6, 2021 as a member of the Mounds Park Academy class of 2021. She will attend St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN.
What do you love about MPA?
There are so many things I love about MPA! However, what really stands out to me is the teachers. Every teacher at MPA truly wants to create a personal bond with me and see me succeed. They have shown me true passion in their work, inspiring me to go out and work for my passion every day.
Why do you believe your teachers teach the way they do?
MPA teachers have ignited my love for learning through the ways that they teach. They teach the way they do to inspire their students. Every teacher at MPA has a passion for what they teach and want to see their students thrive.
How are you encouraged to dream big and do right at MPA?
In nearly every way possible. At MPA teachers want to encourage and provide the tools necessary to allow you to dream big and do right. This is seen in several of the projects I did, as well as the clubs I was in. There is also a culture with the students at MPA where they encourage one another to accomplish these dreams.
If you have attended another school, how has your experience here been different?
Before MPA I attended a school that prided itself on being one of the most rigorous in the state. This rigor was just rigor of the sake of rigor. MPA has a core value of rigor with a purpose. I have truly seen this value play out over my past three years here. While the school is rigorous, it also makes time for you to enjoy other things in life such as time with family. The rigor at MPA also has a purpose. It’s not just rigor for the sake of rigor but rather rigor to allow you live out the school’s motto of dreaming big and doing right.
What would you tell another student your age considering MPA?
MPA will transform you as a person. I came into MPA as a sophomore and was immediately met by amazing people and loving teachers. The community created the right environment for me to develop as a person and find my passions. Coming to MPA truly gave me a purpose in life. I will forever treasure my time at MPA. MPA creates the environment for you to make an impact on others. It has been incredible to hear from underclassmen and teachers the impact I have had on them. These same people will also have a huge impact on you.
In what ways has MPA prepared you for life beyond school?
MPA has inspired my passions. These passions I have discovered in my time here will forever guide me in my life. I would love to help save the environment. During my time at MPA I have had teachers and friends that have encouraged me and also helped me facilitate this dream already.
