Jude Hull ’12 was like many of the new seventh graders starting at MPA in the fall of 2006. He was excited and eager to learn, perhaps even a little nervous. But he was certainly the only incoming Panther whose father and grandfather are hockey hall of famers. Hockey is literally in Hull’s blood. So, it comes as no surprise that even as he relished the opportunity to play other sports at over his next six years at MPA, including being named captain of the golf team, he was a hockey player first and foremost.

Fast forward to high school. Hull played three seasons for the SPA/MPA hockey team, earning a number of accolades. He was a two time Tri Metro all-conference honoree, including all-conference first team as a senior. That year, he was also team captain and MVP. In his junior and senior seasons combined, he recorded an impressive .856 save percentage.

Following high school, Hull played juniors hockey in both the American West Hockey League for the Bozeman Icedogs and in the North American Hockey League for the Topeka Capitals. “Jude has been a tireless worker and has taken his game to the next level. He has a bright future and, with his work ethic, will be very successful,” Topeka Capitals head coach Anthony Bohn said of Hull.

Following his juniors hockey experience, Hull committed to play collegiately at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. As a sophomore for the Oles, Hull appeared in eight games. Then, as a junior in the 2016-17 season, Hull finished tied for second in the MIAC with a .927 save percentage. He was named an all-MIAC honorable mention honoree. As a senior, he played in 12 games, makes 353 saves with for .903 save percentage.

Hull remembers his athletics career at MPA fondly. “MPA athletics set me up well for a college career in that it prepared me for the challenge of balancing athletics alongside academics.”

He savored the opportunity to play high school hockey in Minnesota. “Nothing quite compares to playing high school hockey in Minnesota. Having the privilege to play for three years was incredible,” says Hull.

Hull graduated with a degree in economics with a concentration in management studies at St. Olaf and is now financial advisor for RBC Wealth Management and the head goalie coach at Gretzky Hockey School.
