Trimester 1 Reports Sent Home
On Monday, December 4, your child(ren)’s Trimester 1 report cards were sent home via email. Please feel free to contact the Lower School office with any questions or help needed and/or your child’s teachers regarding the content of the report(s).
Missing Mittens, etc
We still have several students visiting the Lower School office lost and found cabinet on the search for mittens, gloves, and hats during recess. Please help ensure your child has the appropriate winter gear for a chilly but refreshing playtime.
Grades 1-4 Reading Buddies Sign Up
The Lower and Upper Schools are partnering again on the Reading Buddies initiative. Here is the information from student organizer Rowan Mulrooney: Please sign up if your children in grades 1-4 are interested in being part of the Reading Buddies program starting in January 2024. This program is where Upper School students in grades 9-12 meet once a week for an hour after school to read with or to students in Lower School, grades 1-4. This program will occur after school in the library to have easy access to books. Upper School student Rowan Mulrooney will connect the buddy and the student. The specific day of the week is decided among the buddy, the child’s parents, and logistics regarding the meeting. This program will start after Winter Break and last until the beginning of March/April Spring Sports (or until the buddy can no longer meet). The goal of this project is to develop the reading skills of younger students as well as help them with their school reading. The sign-up deadline is Monday, December 18, at 3 PM.
Please indicate your interest in this Reading Buddies sign up form, by the deadline. You will receive information about your child’s assigned reading buddy, the start date, and the regular meeting time during the winter break. If you have any questions about the Reading Buddies program, please contact the Lower School office.
Quarterly Parent Coffee Follow-Up
On the evening of November 28, we welcomed parents to our Parents Association quarterly coffee on the topic of child development. We discussed common stages of development for children in their elementary years and shared various resources, including the book “Yardsticks: Child and Adolescent Development.” One resource that might interest you is from Responsive Classroom and their collection of Yardsticks stages and phases: Yardsticks: easy-to-read articles on the developmental stages, ages 4-14.
CHAMP Assembly on January 10
