I hope you all had a restful and rejuvenating Thanksgiving break and that you are as ready as our students and faculty are to embrace this winter weather and work hard over the next two-and-a-half weeks until winter break.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for pancakes at our Founders’ Day Breakfast yesterday morning and to those who attended our second session of Students and Screens yesterday afternoon. With close to 30 participants—parents of Lower, Middle, and Upper school students, and some Middle and Upper School students—we had an engaging and informative conversation about fragmentation, the importance of sleep (for all of us), and how we can help our students develop customized, healthy study habits. Stay tuned for our next session sometime in late January or early February, as we have more to talk about and more who want to share.
As we head into December, there are a few fun events and gatherings to pull up to the top of your calendars:
PA Coffee with Dr. Jules
Next week, the Parents Association will host our Middle School Quarterly Coffee on Tuesday, December 10 at 8 AM in the PCR. For this session, we have invited Dr. Jules Nolan, our school psychologist, to talk through everything about adolescence! Now that we are well into the school year and your Middle Schooler(s) continue to grow in a plethora of ways, we thought it would be helpful to bring in an expert to help facilitate a conversation about everything from screens and social issues to puberty and body odor. Please come with your questions and your experiences to share in a conversation around how we all can help our students thrive through their middle years.
MS Band, Orchestra, and Vocal Concert
Next Thursday night, December 12, from 7-8:30 PM, please join our sixth through eighth graders for their MS Band, Orchestra, and Vocal Concert. We will have coffee and cookies ready to go for parents at 6:15 PM when you need to drop your performer off.
End of the Year Cheer with Middle School
On Friday, December 20, our fifth and sixth graders will spend the morning off-campus packing meals at Feed My Starving Children and bowling in the afternoon, while the seventh and eighth grade Student Council will host a Winter Carnival for their classmates that afternoon. Keep an eye on your Schoology message boards for ways parents can get involved and help.
