As we turn the corner in our school year by heading into a new semester, I find myself really excited about the work and opportunities ahead. This week, we will have had our Grade 5 Music Share on Thursday and the Middle School Talent Show on Friday afternoon, with close to 20 acts from all our grades and faculty.

Heading into February, we have our Winter Conferences coming up at the end of next week on the evening of February 6 and all day on February 7. Lower and Middle School students have conferences, while Upper School students still have classes. Please remember that all Middle School students are required to attend their conferences. The window to sign up for conferences closes on Friday evening, so check in there soon if you’re hoping to get some time with your child’s teachers.

And, we have a couple of fun events on the horizon for our parents with the next installment of Students and Screens on the tenth of February and the 2025 Spring Auction: Gala of Gratitude fast approaching, just after spring break. See more information below.

As the sun returns to my morning commute, I am reminded of all of the growth and change that can come through these late winter months. Help your child build on the habits of mind they built throughout the fall, and help us foster growth through the month of February. Soon enough, they will be heading out on their i-Term experiences during the first week of March, and then we have spring break, and the year will feel as though it is flying by!

Students & Screens Community Discussion: Security, Safety, and Technology Controls,  Monday, February 10

During the October and December Students & Screens events, parents shared curiosity about online safety, security, and technology controls and a longing for some practical tools. In February, we will focus on these areas of interest and provide opportunities for parents to engage with each other and with our facilitators as we work together to strengthen our roles as adults in support of our students.

Parents, please join us on Monday, February 10, from 1:45-3 PM in the Recital Hall to engage in discussion on these topics. The discussion will be led by MPA parent Corey Ganser and supported by Jay Dean, Upper School assistant director; Paul Errickson, Middle School director; and Michael Moran, director of academic technology. If you are interested in joining this community discussion, please RSVP using this form.

Lower and Middle School Winter Conferences: February 6 and 7

Lower and Middle School Winter Conferences will be held on the evening of February 6 and all day on February 7. The conference sign-up window will close tomorrow, Friday, January 31, at 8 PM. Information has been sent to families via email. Click here to learn more.
