In the beginning months of the pandemic, I banned myself from using the word “unprecedented.” As I look back over the last several years, it becomes ever more clear that no other word can better express what we have experienced as a society and as a school. In a characteristic MPA manner, we persevered together, and together, we discovered the strength and resiliency of our community.
It is only fitting, then, that our school-wide theme for this school year is “Together.” As we emerge from the pandemic, our community has undergone a renewal, and there is incredible excitement about being together again. The joyfulness quotient has increased exponentially, providing the momentum necessary to look forward. With a new strategic plan, the path forward is brighter as we prepare for the next 40 years of MPA.
None of this would be possible without you. In the most challenging days of the pandemic, knowing we could rely on your generosity and support enabled us to persevere and thrive. Together with the students, faculty, and staff of MPA, thank you. My gratitude knows no bounds.

"I was able to get to where I am today because of the numerous opportunities MPA and the Twin Cities provided for me. It all started for me with MPA’s ensembles, who inspired and shaped the musician I am today. While at MPA, I participated in Concert Band, Varsity and Concert Choir, and Percussion Ensemble. In addition to developing my musical abilities, each ensemble helped to develop my confidence and teamwork skills, very important skills to have when majoring in music and in life."

"When we started our school search, we weren’t looking at private school for private schools’ sake. In fact, we were leaning more towards public schools until we started learning more about MPA. We wanted a school that would help grow our kids’ confidence while they learned, and a community that believed school was not just a place to learn but a place to grow into a kind, compassionate members of society. We wanted a community that valued diversity where no students got or felt lost in the shuffle. We wanted a community for not just our kids, but also for us as a family. We were blown away that we found all of that and SO much more at MPA!"

"MPA allowed me the opportunity to try everything—new languages, new sports, new extracurriculars. I was not the best runner or cross country skier, but I always had a place on the team and I appreciate that even more now as I’m raising my own children and trying to figure out how to give them those same opportunities to dream big and do right."

"We wanted a school that was excellent academically, but that also took a holistic approach to the student. We value that MPA cultivates active community members and social change agents. We like how design thinking has been interwoven throughout the school. And we were blown away by the quality of the ceramics projects on display! Over the past several months we have seen Lucas growing and learning in a range of ways, including how to use his ‘emotional toolbox’ to handle difficult situations."
