Little Women: Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy

Adapted by Sandra Fenichel Asher from the writings of Louisa May Alcott

Little Women, adapted from the novel by Louisa May Alcott, is a heartwarming and enduring tale of sisterhood, love, and personal growth. Set during the Civil War era, it follows the lives of the four March sisters—Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy—as they navigate the challenges of growing up in a modest New England household. Each sister has her own distinct personality and dreams: Meg yearns for a life of luxury, Jo is an aspiring writer with a fiery spirit, Beth is gentle and musically gifted, and Amy is a young artist with a flair for the dramatic. The play also includes "The Battle of Beaumanoir," a later Alcott story. As the sisters face the trials of poverty, illness, and loss, they learn valuable lessons about resilience, self-discovery, and the enduring power of family. The story beautifully captures their journey from childhood to womanhood, filled with moments of joy, heartache, and deep love.

(This version is from Little Women alone, not including the plot from the second book, Good Wives.)
